Did I know about DDL(Dulce De Leche pronounced as DOOL-se day LAY-chay) ? Not at all. I am introduced to Dulce De Leche by Subhashini’s Fondbites Bake Along challenge, DDL brownies. And I can tell you this one is addictive. You taste once, you wont be able to stop. I think the Dulce De Leche tastes between butterscotch and caramel!? I lean more to caramel. A thick caramel. And it tastes soooo yummy.
Dulche De Leche is prepared by slowly heating sweetened condensed milk. Literally translated, it means “candy of milk”
Now to recipe:-
1/2 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
pinch of salt
1/4 tsp baking powder
2 tbspn finely chopped nuts(I used cashews and almonds). This is optional. You can totally leave it out.
1 cup Dulce de leche(see direction for making DDL at home)
When I bake for Fondbites Bake Along, the recipes are given by Subhashini and I follow that most of the time as it is. Since I follow her recipes I provide link to her recipe, unless I have made some changes to the original recipe provided by her I do not write the recipe.
