I have been absent from the blogging world and social media network for a few days now. Last weekend was not very favorable to me. I was having migraine head ache whole week and then on the weekend I got severe attack. The attack started while I was heading to a cook off event. Even though the head ache was bad,  I didn’t return home as I wanted to participate . It was a unique initiative where the participating cooks were to be assisted by kids from an NGO foundation. I went to the event cooked, taught a young girl who was my partner through the event a few tips and tricks of cooking. She also learnt a few names of ingredients which she were not familiar with before. And I wasn’t disappointed at all for not winning the contest. I had a huge satisfaction of cooking with a young girl who desires to be a chef when she grows up.

After I returned home, I just couldn’t take the migraine pain. I visited the emergency ward a few times over the weekend to take IV and pain killers. Usually every time I got a migraine attack I would be given a pain killer shot and I would feel fine in a couple of minutes. But this time, nothing helped, gosh the pain was literally killing me. Finally I got some heavy dose of pain killers which I was definitely not happy taking it but had no choice, I started feeling a little better.  Now I’m on homeo meds which is definitely helping a lot. Hopefully I will recover from the pain soon.

Instant Naan

Mom stayed with us to help me out with kids and everything else, God I don’t know what I will do without her. Seriously! She never shows her age and her age related problems, comes home every week to take care of son who still does not go to school when I have to be out for my classes. When I am sleeping, with the intention not to disturb my sleep, She walks from bus stop to my home in spite of her knee pain. Though I try my level best to pick her up and drop her to the stop, there are times she walks and it kills me to see her walk. She never complains of her pain. When I tell her to wait for me to pick her up, she smiles and tells me, “It’s not a big thing, I can walk and I am fit. Not a problem at all”!

I started to understand what she meant after I became a mother. We mothers will walk without shoes to the end of Earth for our kids.

Today I was off bed and wanted to cook something. I made simple lunch with instant naan and some vegetable Jalfrezi.

I came across this recipe for Instant Naan in a magazine while I was waiting for my pedicure to be done in a parlor. I took photos of the recipe as I wanted to try it for sure and I knew I will like it.

1 cup curd

Ghee/Clarified butter for rubbing over the naan

  1. Welcome back, Jyothi. I’m so sorry that you’ve been so ill. That does NOT sound like fun at all. Your so blessed to have such a wonderful mom. Mine is just like yours. So lucky! This naan looks amazing. Can you think of a good vegan substitution for the curd? I’d love to make this. Feel better!

Hey Linda! So glad to see you here. I totally agree with you, mother’s are the biggest blessing we have and I pray for all mothers good health and life. It’s the yogurt and baking soda that does the magic. You can try with cashew yogurt
